What I am here to talk about is: what's the big deal about being gay? So, I'll post my thoughts on this and if anyone does read this, I'm hoping for feedbacks or someone I can bounce ideas off of. Here goes:
Why do people think that being gay is bad? I just don't get it. I've heard that it's morally wrong and that the Bible says it's wrong.
So, first thing, being gay is morally wrong. My arguments against this? Whose morals are you using? Your own? Well let me tell you, your morals are not the same as my morals, your neighbor's morals, or anyone else's morals. You cannot use your own morals as a measure or reason why being gay is wrong. That's just stupid and selfish. That's like saying that your morals are right and better than any/every one else's. Well then, if not your own, are you using morals as measured by society? Okay, well what about me? I'm a (as far as I can tell) straight woman who's going and doing well in college, aspiring to be a child psychologist/therapist. I also happen to support gay rights. Does this mean I'm not a part of society? What about all the other people who support gay rights? Does that mean they're not a part of society? Or even gay people themselves, are they not a part of society or do you just not count them because they're gay?
Next, religious reasons why being gay is wrong, as stated in the bible. So, I've never read the bible, but where exactly does it say that being gay is wrong? I've heard that sodomy is forbidden. Does that mean if you're a lesbian it's okay to be gay? What about all the straight couples who like to have anal sex? Are they wrong and should be condemned as well? Besides, if you're going by the bible, uh hello? The bible is the religious text for Christians, Catholics, and the many branches that sprout from them. People, this is America!!! When America was first founded, after the Revolution, something called the Bill of Rights was placed into our Constitution. In that document is the First Amendment which includes FREEDOM OF RELIGION! The government also CANNOT institutionalize one religion among the hole nation. That being said, NOT EVERYONE IS CHRISTIAN, CATHOLIC, OR ASSOCIATED WITH IT!! I'm Buddhist and nowhere in our religion does it say that being gay is wrong and you'll be condemned to eternal damnation if you are. So no, you can't use religion as an excuse when we are living in America where everyone has the right to practice their own religion. So, does this mean that as long as you're not among one of those religions it's okay to be gay? Well apparently it's not because even if you are of a different religion and even if you are a total stranger and have nothing to do with these people, they'll still condemn and persecute you! Moreover, doesn't it teach forgiveness and acceptance and loving thy neighbor? So where is it? Are you only forgiving and accepting people who conform to your ways? Sorry, that's not acceptance that's coercion/blackmail. I'm not trying to hate on anyone's religion. I just hate it when people use their religion as an excuse to be an overbearing, self-centered, hypocritical, arrogant asshole. Or bitch. Whatever. Own up to what you say or feel and don't hide behind your religion.
Next, if just think that being gay is disgusting or something. Hey, to all you straight people out there. What part of it is disgusting? Okay, I'll admit that the idea of anal sex is gross to me. But hey, I'm not having anal sex okay? You're probably not doing anal. Whatever goes on in their bedroom is none of your business. If you wanna condemn people who are gay just because of whatever is going on in your own head, well you'd have to do the same to all the straight people who do anal as well. I'm pretty sure you are doing that. If they're not flaunting it in an in your face way, what's the big deal? And if they're one of those flaming queens, why can't you just ignore them or be civil even if you don't like them? I'm sure you don't like everyone you know but you can still shut your mouth around them. Point two, if they are flaunting it, look away. Ignore whatever they're doing. Frankly, wake up people. I don't like seeing people make out in front of me, even if you are straight. It's disgusting and no one wants to see you guys sucking each others' faces and sticking your tongue down someone's throat. If it's in an out of the way spot or off to the side, fine, I can learn to ignore you. But it is NOT cool when you make out right in the middle of the walk way and force people to go around you. You think gay people are disgusting? I think that's disgusting and I don't care if you're gay, straight, or into beastiality.
Yeah, that's all for now. I'm sure it was better when I was repeating it in my head but...oh well. If I think of anything else I'll probably edit this later.
Well, as I said, I don't think anyone's actually gonna read this but if you do, feedback is much appreciated if only to find more reasons why people think being gay is wrong and I get to come up with an argument against it. If you have time, google 50 Reasons Why Gay Marriage is Wrong. It's an awesome read and keep in mind, it's sarcastic before you bitch me out thinking I'm against gay marriage.
